Let’s find out about…The Big Bench Project -The Big Bench project was developed by an American designer, Chris Bangle, and his wife, Catherine who are both citizens of Clavesana. There are 35 big benches, which can be found in the hills of the Langhe and surrounding areas and are considered a symbol of the Alta Langa.
The initiative of the benches originated from Bangle’s idea that sitting on a giant bench gives you the feeling of enjoying the surrounding view as if you were a child again. He believes that people are always interested in finding new attractions and sometimes forget to appreciate what is around them. These chairs allow us to see the same things we see everyday from a different perspective. The benches are made to be shared with one or more friends and this concept allows one to socialize and relax in a pleasant way.
Chris Bangle hopes that the Big Bench concept will cross the confines of our area and be replicated in those troubled parts of the world where there is a great need to be able to see things from a child’s point of view again. Here is a list of towns where you can find a Big Bench:
